Simple steps to create your miniature garden
Look for a container that is 3-4″ deep with a drainage hole. If your container doesn’t have a hole in the bottom, be cautious about over watering.
Place a layer of pebbles on the bottom.
Next add charcoal to keep the soil fresh.
Fill with potting soil, leaving about 3/4″ from the top.
3. Choose a Theme
Fairies, Cottage, Whimsy, Beach or Nautical, Natural, Camping. The choices are endless, but look to your favorite things for inspiration.
Choose plants with similar watering and light requirements.
Choose a mixture of tall and short plants that have different textures and can be pruned easily.
Miniature violets or roses add great color.
Cover soil with moss, bark, pebbles, or sand for paths and streams.
This is where the magic happens. Start with the big stuff first then work around that.
Look for some things outside that inspire you like a gravel path or acorn tops as stepping stones.
6. Have fun with it!
