At this time of year, many of us “get serious” about keeping our bird feeders full of bird seed and suet cakes. Nothing beats looking out the window in the morning and watching a colorful bird brighten up a snowy landscape.
Be sure your bird feeder is clean before adding new feed, especially if it has been sitting “unattended” for a while. You also want to place it in a location where the seed will stay dry.
If you are looking for a fun, new bird feeder, why not take a look at a Peanut Butter Bird Feeder? These feeders are designed to hold jars of peanut butter/bird feed mix that resemble jars of peanut butter. The peanut butter is a good source of protein as well as fat for the birds. With the bird seed mixed in, it isn’t as “sticky.”
Another thing you can do to help the birds this winter is to be sure and provide a source of warm water for them to drink.
